Avastin cures Brain cancer and is approved by FDA
The Oncologic Drug Advisory Committee (ODAC) met and unanimously recommended approval of Avastin for glioblastoma on Tuesday March 31, as the FDA committee members heard impassioned testimony about lives forever changed by brain cancer and extended and/or improved by the cancer drug. Avastin is a anti-angiogenesis drug that cuts off bloodsupply to tumor cells, benign or malignant. Patients in this trial have had their tumor reduced and/or wiped out completely; some patients were taken off the drug and others remain on the regimen, with some side effects, as the tumor no longer resides in their brain.
